Power of God
On the Black Death, people believed that God was punishing them for the sins they did. In the Medieval society, a group called the Flagellants had went around towns in Europe, whipping themselves, crying out to God, believing that God would would forgive them for their sins and give sympathy to them because they have the disease and to show their love for God. Later in the years, people slowly started losing their belief in God as they grew weaker and seeing other people dying especially people from the clergy. Many were soon convinced into not believing in God because he never saved them from the disease which led them into thinking that God may have never existed. Before the Medieval people were going to die they were to say their 'Last Rites', even women were allowed to do so. The 'Last Rites' were when they confess their sins and say their last prayers. People back in that time had really feared God because of the plague. This was what people in the Medieval era thought of God and his power was like.
