Medieval Medical KnowledgeThe medical knowledge in the Medieval period in general was very poor between the doctors and people. Many of the cures had impacted on people into a worse state in which the disease led into spreading widely. Most of the treatments of illnesses and diseases was based on superstition and ignorance. Most people also thought that prayer was the most effective way of dealing with serious illnesses because of their strong beliefs in that time. Some of the treatments they used were like Aromatherapy, eating rotten treacle, living in a sewer, killing the Jews and many more. The treatments that had caused the disease into spreading and impacting on people were like smearing poo on lumps, living in a sewer, washing in urine and many more. Historians and Archaeologists had discovered those treatments due to the primary sources found like the paintings from the era. Hygiene was little known in the Medieval era, most of the people didn't live in a house that was in a hygienic for them to live in. These are facts on the medical knowledge known by the Medieval people.

Some of the Strange Cures
- Aromatherapy - Carrying around a small bag of herbs or nice smelling flowers to avoid bad smells from the outside.
- Religion - People went around and whipping themselves and singing for mercy of God to cure and take pity on them.
- Using Rotten Treacle - After catching the plague people ate this sugary substance to cure themselves.
- Live in Sewer - As the plague was airborne, people thought to live in sewers so the cleaner air would not flow thought out the sewer, but they died from other diseases by living in a sewer.
- Leeches Suck You Dry - A expensive way to suck the disease out of the body which is painless and lets blood out of your body.
- Eat a spoon of crushed Emeralds - Crushed into powder, mixed into food or drink and it was then drunk or ate like a potion. This was an edible cure for the people back then.
- Wash Yourself with Urine -People would often bathe themselves in urine 7 days a week and was a good reputation in Medieval Europe.
- Smear Yourself in Human Poo - The swelling lymphs were cut open and smeared with poo which might have been a cause to a number of deaths.
- Rub your wound with a live chicken- People would shave the chickens rear end and then strap it to their swollen lymph nodes and would repeat process until only the chicken or the victim is healthy.
- Kill the Jews- When religion had taken control of the people, some took it a little to seriously and far that they thought Jew might be the reason to the plague. People had rounded up Jews, trapped them in their homes, set their houses alight and even executed or burned the Jews.
